Check a phone number

Enter the number that called or texted you. We look up what kind of number it is and whether it has been reported.

Enter a number

Include the country code if the number is from abroad, for example +44.

The number shown on your display can be faked. German police never call from 110.

If you are on such a call right now

  • Hang up if someone asks for money, a PIN or a TAN. Then call the organisation yourself, using a number you know.

  • Do not call back unknown numbers from abroad. The call can be expensive.

  • Has money already gone? Call your bank first and report it to the police. The check can wait. What you can do after a transfer

Common schemes right now

A selection from current warnings by German consumer advice centres and the Federal Network Agency.

  • Fake police, fake bank employee

Your display shows 110 or your bank’s number, then a courier is to collect money or your card. German police never call from 110, and your bank never asks for your PIN or TAN.

    Call

  • Ping call

It rings only once, briefly, from a foreign number. Do not call back, the call can be expensive.
