Check an email address

An email from your bank, a parcel service or your boss, and the address looks odd. Paste it. You see what can be said about the address and what speaks against it.

Enter the sender address

Copy the address from the sender line, including the part after the @. The displayed name alone is not enough.

A sender address can be forged. Even a genuine address does not prove the email came from there.

What happens to the address

  • The address goes to our server and is checked there. We do not store it. It travels in the body of the request, so it appears in no access log.
  • Only the domain goes to others: as a DNS query and, for the registration date, to the registry. The part before the @ never leaves us.
  • To compare with our own findings we compute a checksum of the address. Addresses are held there as checksums only.
